Oyo State Sports Council is leaving no stone unturned and has commenced preparation for the 20th National Sports Festival EDO 2020 despite the renovation going on at the State Sports Complex (Lekan Salami Stadium). Goal Intense Sport can reports.
As at the time of this reports the crew was able to gather that the state will be participating in about twenty-nine sports out of over 40 sports registered for the 20th National Sports Festival EDO 2020.
Futhermore, speaking with the Director of Organization at the Sports Council Mr. Kehinde Ojelowo, he reeled out the council preparation immediately after the ban was lifted on contact sports
“We have prepared fully for the 20th NSF adequately and appropriately to surpass our last record where we came 9th position. After the Federal Government has lifted the ban on sports in the country, preparation is in earnest.”
“You will agree with me that remodeling and rehabilitation are going on in Lekan Salami Sports Complex which is a blessing to the state but a bit retard our preparation, in view of that some sports are still managing to have their training in the complex where construction and services are not ongoing at the moment, while Hockey is having their training in Ilaji Hotel and Resort, Athletics at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, etc. So we are preparing and hope we have a good result anytime we were called for the festival.”
The Pace-Setter state will be participating in twenty-nine sports and it is expected for the state contigent to come home with at least twenty gold medals as some sports are just the state borth right but we hope this oppurtnity does not slip over.
The sports Oyo state is expected to participate in are as follows:
- Kick- Boxing
- Trado (Ayo)
- Table Tennis
- Para – Table Tennis
- Para- Powerlifting
- Beach Volleyball
