2021 HIFL ROUND 16: Unilorin Warriors Square Up Against KSU Steelers

University of Ilorin male Football team will on Wednesday, 11 August, 2021, lock horns with Visiting Kogi State University at the Unilorin Mainbowl Stadium Complex in the second leg of Round 16 on this year’s Higher Institutions Football League by 4:00pm.

Recall, in the first leg Unilorin Warriors were forced to a 1-1 draw in Anyigba when Fashanu Micheal gave Warriors a 1-0 lead while Babatunde Pelumi equalised for the host but was later sent off in the final minutes of the first leg match having been booked twice and as a result will miss Wednesday’s return leg fixture for KSU Steelers in Ilorin.

A goalless scoreline between these two for Wednesday return leg means the host will advance to the quarter final of the competition having secured an away goal during the first leg encounter.

KSU Steelers has a herculean task to try stop Unilorin Warriors who are not just favourite to win the tie and advance to the next stage but also won the third place match the last time the competition was held in 2019. while the following year in 2020 was didn’t hold due to the spread of covid-19 pandemic.

Already Federal University of Technology Minna among the four teams to have advance to the quarter final stage and will face the winner between Unilorin Warriors and KSU Steelers.
