Nothing is being left to chance as Gateway United begins its 2021 Aiteo Cup campaign against NPFL table toppers Akwa United.
FIFA goal project, Games Village, Abuja will play host to the round 2 encounter at 3pm on Wednesday 7th July, 2021.
Gateway United arrived Abuja yesterday evening, and will have a feel of the turf at 2pm today.
Speaking to GUFC media department ahead of the game, head coach, Akeem Busari said the clash poses a special opportunity for his boys to make the good people of Ogun state proud.
“Well, we leave no stone unturned in preparing optimally for this clash. Facing the NPFL log leaders is a humongous clash, but it’s game of 11 players and we are prepared to make it count. This, we have instilled into the players and the morale is very high. We might have been tagged underdogs but we see it as a 50-50 clash. We didn’t travel all the way from Abeokuta to glare at the beautiful city, we came to conquer”
“Nothing is being left to chance. We shall limber up today, we will use that to cross our “t”s and dot our “I”s. I would rather want the match to justify the effort of the coaching crew and of course, create a Eureka moment out of this” he concluded.
There shall be a live text commentary of the match on Facebook (Gateway United) and the highlights will be uploaded on the club’s youtube page.
