80 Players Vie For Honours At Second GSM Tennis Championship

All is now set for the second edition of Governor Seyi Makinde Tennis Championship with 80 players set to vie for honours at the four day competition slated for Monday 28th February to Thursday 3rd March, 2022.

The Special Assistant to Governor Makinde on Sports development, Hon. Tobi Oyewumi made this known to BCOS Sports reporter Boluwaji Ogunmola on Sunday.

According to the Governor’s aide, Eighty Players would be competing in the Juniors, and Senior boys and girls Categories of the Competition aimed at discovering future stars.

Hon. Tobi Oyewumi also said Cash prizes would be presented to winners in the Senior Category, while winners in the Juniors would go home with various standard prizes.

Hon. Tobi, who is the organizer of the championship reiterated that the Championship was in line with Governor Seyi Makinde’s agenda to identify new talent in Oyo State and check youth restiveness in the state.

“He’s excellency Governor Makinde took it upon himself with his own hard earned money to offer the Winners from the last championship, Sarah Adegoke and Mubarak Adekola scholarship to further their Tennis Career, Sarah has been in Spain training and getting exposed to international competition, same is going to be done for Mubarak”.

According to Hon. Oyewunmi, the competition will be held at the newly renovated Centre Court and training Court of the Lekan Salami Staduim, Adamasingba.
