Oyo State commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr. Seun Fakorede, has commended Crown FC of Ogbomoso for starting the 2019/2020 Nigeria National League on a good note.

The Ogbomoso side defeated visiting Bayelsa United 3-1 to begin the season. The visitors had opened the score cheat with a goal from Bernard Okorowanta in the 10th minute.

Abbey Thompson latched onto a defensive error by Bayelsa United’s defender and coolly slotted home to equalize for the homers in the 30th minutes.

Thompson scored another goal in the 35th minutes while Taiwo AbdulRafiu made it 3-1 in the 89th minutes to put the homers in comfortable lead.

An elated Fakorede charged the management and staff of the team to ensure they maintain the tempo, adding that the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde would do everything to ensure the club and Shooting Stars Sports Club, 3SC, of Ibadan gain promotion to the elite division.

This is just as he urged the management and staff of the Oluyole soccer lords, 3SC, to do everything to defeat its opponent, Go Round FC, at the Adamasingba Stadium.

“I am happy with Crown FC’s performance in today’s league opener. It is cheering. They should not relax. This is just the beginning. We have started well with our two clubs by releasing funds early enough to prosecute the league. We would do everything necessary for them. 3SC should also go all out to earn the maximum three(3) points tomorrow.

Governor Seyi Makinde would be glad to have the two clubs in the elites’ division next season. I know it has not happened in the history of Oyo State but it is doable. Some states have two representatives in the Nigeria Professional Premier League, NPFL,” he added.
