Osun United’s Coach Bags NFF’s Appointment.

The Nigeria Football Federation, (NFF) has appointed Osun United’s goalkeepers’ coach, Olatunji Baruwa to head the goalkeeping department of the National Under-15 team.

This is contained in a statement made available to newsmen from the Communication Department of NFF on Friday, September 25, 2020.

The statement reads “The National Under 15 Boy’s’ “Future Eagles” crew will be led by Omoniyi Haruna Ilerika Usman to be assisted by Bassey Patrick (first assistant), Olubunmi Haruna (second assistant), Mohammed Kalli Kachalla (assistant coach/scout) and Baruwa Olatunji (goalkeeper coach).

The Osogbo born former Lobi Stars of Makurdi and Crown Football Club of Ogbomoso shotstopper is, until his appointment, the goalkeepers’ Coach at Osun United for decades and was part of the victorious’ Nigerian Golden Eaglets that emerged West African champions at the WAFU Zone B Africa Nations Cup qualifier which took place in Niger Republic in 2018.

Nicknamed ‘Ejo’ (snake) for his height and lanky stature, Baruwa is a successful goalkeeper having represented several Professional Football Clubs in Nigeria such as Prime FC, Lobi Stars, Crown fC, NEPA FC Osogbo, Housing Lion FC Abeokuta etc as a shot-stopper during his playing days.

He was the goalkeepers’ Coach of the Golden Eaglets to the African U-17 Cup of Nations in Tanzania, WAFU U-17 AFCON qualifier in Niger Republic and assisted Coach Manu Garba to the FIFA Under 17 World Cup in Brazil, last year.

Apart from the above sumptuous work experience, Baruwa possesses NIS coaching certificate, CAF B and CAF C Coaching License.
