Goalkeeper Olorunleke Ojo was “proud” of his Abia Warriors team as they gave Enyimba a scare in Aba on Tuesday.
A second half penalty kick by Samad Kadiri was all the People’s Elephants needed to win 1-0 in the Abia Derby.
And the overall display left Ojo satisfied, despite the fact that the Umuahia Warriors almost a snatched a late point in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) week one game at Enyimba International Stadium.
“We knew today would be difficult, and I commend the efforts of the Abia Warriors players, we performed and competed very well.
“Congratulations to the Enyimba team for winning. The game is all about who wins.
The goalkeeper made series of point blank saves against the rampaging Enyimba team.
“As an individual, I tried my best.”
“In the second half when we were tried and needed to press a little bit higher, we made an extra effort and I think we played well.”
“It’s still a work in progress for us. With hardwork, commitment, and discipline this season will be a fruitful one for us.
