Tosin Omoyele first half brace is enough for Enyimba FC to secured a crucial 2-1 win over Plateau United to remain top of the NPFL table as they open a six points gap ahead of Rivers United in second place.
Tosin Omoyele who was playing against his former team for the first time since his departure in the summer, scored his the first goal with his head on the 27th minutes courtesy Anayo Iwuala’s perfect delivery from the corner kick.
The striker completed his brace three minutes later as he doubled Enyimba’s lead after lunching on to a perfect pass from Anayo Iwuala, before unleashing a beautiful right footed strike inside the 18 yard box to put the ball beyond the reach of helpless Henry Anozie in goal for Plateau United.
Moses Effiong reduce the deficit in the 74th minutes for Plateau United as they chased for a late equalizer, but Enyimba held on to secure all three Points, as they now lead with 21 points, being closely followed by Rivers United who currently occupy the second position with 15 points, they however don’t play until Monday were they will play host to Nasarawa United in Portharcourt.
Meanwhile, the defeat for Plateau United, makes it a back to back defeat on the road after haven suffered a 1-0 defeat to Warri Wolves during their Midweek NPFL Matchday eight (8) fixtures which currently place them 10th on the log with 11 points.
