NUELA Honours Ocheho, Alarape, Mogaji, Bako Others

NUELA Youth and Humanitarian Foundation have awarded the Chairman Caretaker Committee of Handball Federation of Nigeria, Sam Ocheho and Kwara State Director of Sports, Mallam Atanda Alarape for their contribution to handball and sports in Kwara state respectively.

The award presentation of OCheho and Alarape was done at the finals of the 4th edition of NUELA U12/15 Handball Championship in Oyun Local Government Area on Saturday.

NUELA Youth and Humanitarian Foundation also honoured Deputy Director of Sports Kwara State Ministry of Sports, Alhaji Bako Ibrahim and Ex Squash International Player, Bola Mogaji for their immerse contributions in reshaping the fortunes of sports in Kwara state.

Other individuals given awards includes; Former Board member HFN, Funke Kanjuni, Ex Handball International, Monisola Makanjuola, Coach of Kwara State Handball Association, Isiaka Atanda.

Trustee of NUELA Youth and Humanitarian Foundation, Emmaneul Olubiyo revealed that the initiative of the awards is to encourage individuals who are supporting the plight and development of sports in the country.

Olubiyo who double as the Chairman Kwara State Handball Association said, “During the regime of Sam Ocheho led Handball Federation of Nigeria board, you could see that Handball became prominent in the country and Africa. We attended various African and International Championships including the age grade World Cups. The only way we can appreciate him is to present this award of excellence to him”.

“Since Mallam Atanda Alarape became the Director of Kwara State Sports Council, you could see the turnaround of things including the performance of the state at the last National Sports Festival in Edo state. The handball family appreciates his efforts in ensuring we attend all championships in the country and we hope this synergy continues”.

“I want to also commend coach Isiaka Atanda who raised a team (young primary school girls) from grassroot and nuture them to winning the 2020 Prudent Energy Handball League. His hard work has not gone unnoticed by the world and I am optimistic more rewards are coming his way”.
