The Executive Chairman of Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bola Mogaji has congratulated Team Kwara for winning 8 gold, 3 Silver and 2 bronze at the recently concluded National Teqball Challenge in Abuja.
Mallam Mogaji made the commendation while receiving the team in his office on Wednesday.
The Executive Chairman lauded the handlers and the management of the Kwara State Teqball Association led by Yahaya Yaradua for the feat.
He said he was not surprised that the team came top because the team had always shown commitment during training
He said the successes recorded by the team stemmed from the investments in sport by the chairman.
Mogaji also commended the Nigeria Teqball Federation led by Engineer Habu Gumel for organising such events that provided an avenue to bring young people together for their physical and mental development.
Responding, the Chairman of Kwara State Teqball Association, Yahaya Yaradua promised make the state proud in subsequent championship.
The Captain of Kwara State Teqball team, Seun Ogunlana and women’s player, Rashidat Salawu thanked the State Government for creating an enabling environment for Teqball to thrive.
Ogunlana promised to give his best Kwara State Teqball team and make the state proud if invited to the national team to represent the country.
In his closing remark, the Director General of KSSC, Dr Steve Olarinoye urged the youths in the state to channel their energy into sports and shun social vices.
Dr Olarinoye advised the Nigeria Teqball Federation to get in touch with the various State Sports Commission/Council in order to formalise the existence of the sport.
Present at the occasion were; the Acting Administrator/CEO of Kwara Football Academy, Alhaji Bako Ibrahim, members of Kwara State Sports Commission, Abdullahi Lade and Dele Abubakar (MON), Director of Sports Mallam Alarape Atanda and the Kwara State Teqball Association.
