We are delighted to confirm the appointment of Kingsley Falonipe as the Club’s new Technical Director and Head Coach.
The Ibadan-born administrator and youth coach, who has recently spent time away from the club, worked as the Video and Performance Analyst for Nigerian Professional Football Side, Remo Stars FC. Kingsley worked with the First Team Head Coach, Daniel Ogunmodede (Ijaball) for the entire Season as the team secured Promotion away from the NNL in September, 2021.
Kingsley, having served as the Multimedia Director for Super Eleven FC (2018-19) and as Technical Director of his latest employers, IBFC, for the 2019-20 season, is obviously not new to the role. Meanwhile, upon his advancement into the coaching scene, he is known for preferring a consistently controlled possession based style of attacking play, using individual and team combination play to create and score goals. This coaching philosophy is known as IJABALL, it was originally created by the fast rising tactician, Coach Daniel Ogunmodede.
This style of play, which is now greatly studied and adopted nationwide by evolved coaches, has equally proven to gaurantee a dual functionality. It provides assured results for Performance Based Coaching as well as a strong Developmental Foundation for Academy Players. This has been proven with the consistent production of at least 2-3 outstanding talents per year into European teams as well as top Clubs in the NPFL over the past 6 years.
Obvious Peculiarities of the methodology is the demand for a high-tempo pressing game and a direct Counter Attacking mentality with a lot of emphasis on consistent control of possession through combination plays across all thirds.
Meanwhile, as an individual, Kingsley is renowned for being a driven professional, which after putting pen to paper on a one-year deal, will be responsible for handling both the Main and ‘B’ Team. He’s expected to work with, find and develop High Potential Players for the Club.
Ibadan City have been disappointing in the IFA League so far this season and are yet to record a win after playing 5 games. Kingsley and his Crew has an obvious task of turning the Club’s fortunes around as soon as possible while also looking to develop the talent-studded Squad.
