The rising profile of the Nollywood industry in Nigeria is meeting an equally growing sector of indigenous sports as the two will meet at the 10th anniversary of the Inside Nollywood International Film Festival & Awards (INIFFAA) Celebration and Indigenous Sports Week in Abuja
According to the Convener Mr. Femi Abioye the event is to marry our indigenous sports with Already grown Nollywood and we feel we need to create a Content development Masterclass tagged “Sports Meet Nollywood Industry and the Maiden Indigenous Sports Week with invitational championship traditional Wrestling (kokowa) and Boxing (Dambe) Extravaganza, where the winner will be crowned with a special laurel -The Jagaban Championship Belt.
“The Jagaban Belt Championship.” The championship challenge will consist of 12 invited fighters in both traditional challenges, the winners of both championships will go home with belts, cash prizes, and other prizes. Other features for the day will be music, dance performances, and Funfare activities like face painting to spice up the atmosphere.
Speaking further, Mr.Abioye called on various sponsors to key into the opportunity the event will provide for the 2 days to exhibit their various products as the marriage of Sports meets Nollywood will be an arena for perfect windows to sell their goods and products he said.
He also urged sponsors not only to support the success of the event but also want them to be part of what will give them visibility for their brands as key collaborators in promoting our cultures, sports and Nollywood, he concluded.
The events will also provide avenues for awards in three categories
Best documentary Film with sport theme,
Best Advertising using Nigeria Sports icons and
Special Recognition Award the organiser revealed.
The event will kickoff from 15th of February to the 17th of February at the Shehu Musa Yar’adua Center in Abuja.
