Shehu Dikko Appointed Chairman of Nigeria’s National Sports Commission, Succeeding Sports Ministry

Mallam Shehu Dikko, former 2nd Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation and leader of the NPFL, has been named the new Chairman of the National Sports Commission, which now replaces the Ministry of Sports Development. An Ahmadu Bello University alumnus, Dikko’s appointment brings his rich experience and administrative skills to the forefront of Nigerian sports development.

Dikko’s career includes serving as FIFA Goal Project Manager (Nigeria) in 2004, managing tours involving Manchester United, and consulting for the sports committee in the House of Representatives from 2008 to 2011, where he helped draft the National Sports Commission bill. His leadership of the professional football league introduced innovative ideas that drove stability and growth.

Now leading the National Sports Commission, Dikko is expected to draw on his extensive background to foster growth, elevate Nigeria’s sports standards, and achieve long-lasting improvements in the sector.
