NWFL Premiership Media Directors Forum Elects New Leadership to Transform Women’s Football Coverage in Nigeria

In a significant move to revolutionize women’s football coverage in Nigeria, the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Media Directors Forum has elected its inaugural executive team. The virtual election, conducted on Sunday, October 27, 2024, marks a pivotal moment in the league’s journey toward enhanced visibility and competitive excellence.

The newly established forum represents a collaborative effort to elevate the NWFL’s media presence through professional sports journalism. “I am honoured to lead this forum,” stated Faith Oluchi Meremegbunam, the newly elected president of Rivers Angels FC. “We are pivotal stakeholders in the NWFL, and through constructive collaboration and insightful reportage, we’ll support the league in securing the recognition it deserves.”

Emphasizing the forum’s commitment to transformation, Meremegbunam outlined its vision for rebranding the NWFL through strategic media coverage. “Our primary focus will be on creating impactful and positive storytelling that attracts sponsors while elevating the league’s status across Africa,” she explained. The forum’s leadership team, including Vice President Humphrey Njoku and Secretary Chinedu Charles, brings together experienced media professionals from various clubs across Nigeria.

The forum’s establishment comes at a crucial time for women’s football in Nigeria, with the NWFL seeking to position itself among the world’s most reported and respected leagues. “Through timely, engaging, and value-driven media content, we aim to transform the league’s reach,” Meremegbunam affirmed. She further emphasized that the forum would maintain open channels of communication with the NWFL administration, ensuring constructive feedback and advocacy for improvements that benefit all stakeholders.

Public Relations Officer: Muhammad Musa (Confluence Queens)

Welfare Coordinator: Olaleye Oluwadamilola (Dannaz Ladies)
