Adeyinka Anthony Adeboye, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, on Thursday hosted Michael Shamsu Mustapha, Secretary General of the African Union Sports Council, during a strategic meeting in Abuja aimed at strengthening collaboration in youth sports development across Africa.
During the engagement, Adeboye emphasized that grassroots sports remain the foundation of national sporting success, noting that Nigeria is committed to creating structured programs that will enable young talents to progress from community-level competitions to international platforms.
He also highlighted the commitment of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to youth empowerment through sports, describing grassroots initiatives as a powerful tool for social development, national unity, and long-term sporting excellence.
Mustapha commended the efforts of the SSA’s office in promoting grassroots sports in Nigeria, stressing that stronger cooperation between continental bodies and national institutions will help unlock Africa’s vast sporting talent and create more opportunities for young athletes across the continent.
