The ancient town of Pategi is now wearing a new look because of the influx of visitors especially Beach soccer players and other sports stakeholders across the country for the third round of Nigeria Beach Soccer League in Kwara State.
In a courtesy call by Kwara State Beach Soccer Association to Ahman Pategi University (APU) on Monday ,Mr Dennis Onkwe, Senior Registrar of the University who represented the Vice Chancellor, Professor Mahfouz Adedimeji appreciated the choice of the institution and expressed their readiness to host the 8-team-featured league.
The administrator assured the stakeholders of the University’s support and commitment towards the success of the competition billed for 25th to 27th of June,2021.
Earlier,the Chairman Kwara State Beach Soccer Association, Alhaji Abdullateef Adebowale Adedeji commended the University for providing the enabling environment for the Beach soccer game to thrive in its resolve to create opportunities for youth and also engage them meaningfully.
Also speaking at the event, the grand patron of the Kwara Beach Soccer Association and a member of the Nigeria Beach Soccer Union, Prince Thompson Oladimeji noted that his support for the game was borne out of his passion for sports development as a tool for youth empowerment and productivity.
Meanwhile, the CEO and Publisher of Sportspro News ,Bayour Issah who was part of the delegation expressed the belief that the league will catapult the University to the world map and also add value to the community.
The Emir of Patigi, Alhaji Umar Bologi,who was represented by the Ndegi of Patigi during a courtesy visit to the palace stated that the entire community is proud of the initiative and will do everything possible towards its success.
Recall that the Chairman of the Kwara State Beach Soccer Association, Alhaji Abdullateef Adebowale Adedeji had earlier visited the palace to seek for royal blessings ahead of the league.
Other dignitaries at the ceremony includes the Chairman of Patigi Local Government Football Council, Engineer Jibril Idris; the Ciroma of Patigi, Alhaji Hassan Umar; Coordinator of the Beach Soccer in the State,Rasheed Ola Saraki and Chief Mrs Abimbola Olaoye.
