The Executive Chairman of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Hon. Fatai Adekunle Ayoola has thrown his hat into the ring with a bid for the 2023 Lagos Street Soccer championship hosting.

This was revealed in his speech to the delegation of Lagos Street Soccer committee led by Mr Bolaji Yusuf during an official visit to his office.
Hon. Ayoola affirmed readiness of Ajeromi-Ifelodun to host the Street Soccer games with the quality of upgraded sporting facilities available within his LGA.

While declaring expressions of interest to bid for the hosting rights of the championship, Ayoola stated that there are sporting facilities across the LGA structured for grassroot football competitions which he believes would land his LGA the hosting rights after inspection by the Lagos Street Soccer committee.

“We are ready to partner with the Lagos Street Soccer in our quest to win the hosting rights for the championship. We have sporting facilities in Oriola, Orege and Maracana stadium which we’re proposing to host games during the tournament.

“Ajeromi-Ifelodun is a pacesetter in sports and a hub of musical entertainment. The mission intent is to continually expose these talented young players to different competitions and provide upgraded facilities, which recently hosted over 4,000 participants in football competition, to keep them ahead of their contemporaries.

The Lagos Street Soccer delegation were subsequently taken on a tour of facility inspection within Ajeromi-Ifelodun LGA with Hon. Ayoola, personally leading the inspection delegation.

Chairman of the committee Mr Bolaji Yusuf remarked after the facility tour that the committee will review its report on the inspected facilities across the State before awarding the hosting rights to the interested bidders.

The championship is expected to parade more than 1,000 football teams featuring men and women’s teams including the U15 category.
