The attention of the Akwa Ibom State government has been drawn to a circular by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the League Management Company (LMC) reminding football clubs of the law banning spectators from watching football matches at all venues in Nigeria to the extent that clubs which flout these regulations will lose three points and three goals.
With particular reference to Akwa United’s home match against Heartland Football Club today and subsequent matches also involving Dakkada Football Club, we crave the indulgence of football fans in Akwa Ibom to respect the subsisting ban on spectators at football stadia across the country
The NFF and the LMC by the latest circular has noticed that clubs are guilty of contravening the said regulations by throwing their gates open to spectators.
Consequently any club that allows spectators to enter their matches is to lose such matches by three points and three goals.
We are, therefore, by this press release, appealing to the teeming fans of Akwa United and Dakkada Football Club to stop going to watch any of these matches in the interest of the clubs they so love and support.
We believe that no true supporter of our teams will want to violate this laid down rule and cause our darling teams the loss of maximum points and goals off the field of play.
Security personell have been put at alert to prevent any fan or spectator from going near the Nest of Champions on match days.
We cherish the support of all and sundry in this regard, especially the media whome we solicit to bring this to the attention of all and sundry. The loss of three points and goals will be at a great disadvantage to our teams and this we can ill afford, hence we solicit the co-operation of all and sundry.
