Alaafin of Oyo Becomes Life Patron Of FFCN

The Members and Executives of Football Fans Club of Nigeria were on Wednesday, 18th August 2021 received at the Palace of Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr) Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi iii, Iku Baba Yeye, Alase ekeji Orisa and decorated the Monarch as Life Patron.

The First Class Monarch who was full of joy and enthusiasm received the Iconic and leading members of the Supporters’ Club in Nigeria ably led by their National President, Ambassador Oluwakemi Ogunfuwa.

At the decoration ceremony, the CAF Award-winning Matriach, Ambassador Oluwakemi Ogunfuwa commended Alaafin for the roles he plays in sports development in the country, sponsoring football, boxing, table tennis, and others. “I have been closely following the Head of Oyomesi in recent years actively involved in sporting activities. Kabiyesi has been promoting sports with his resources and he’s truly deserved to be honored and celebrated.” Said Ogunfuwa.

“As a quintessential example of the traditional institution in Western Nigeria and the Frontline role the Alaafin is playing in promoting sporting activities in the country, Kabiyesi remains intact and a colossus in the Yoruba political cum cultural history with huge investment in sports. FFCN finds you a true Imperial Majesty and enigma of sports development in our dear nation, Nigeria. Kabiyesi is hugely synonymous to Sports, therefore we confer on you today the Life Patron of our brand of Supporters’Club, Football Fans Club of Nigeria”, FFCN Ogunfuwa lauded

In his remarks, Kabiyesi appreciated the leadership of FFCN and he gave them his royal blessings after which he joggled ball with the National President, Ambassador Oluwakemi Ogunfuwa as part of their traditions of decorating and installing personalities into the FFCN patron. He then used the occasion to call on Coaches to discover more talents and nurture them into a world-beater.

“Nobody is created without talents and Nigeria is blessed with abundant talents. Coaches should embark on talents hunt and develop them to the world beaters”. Said the enthusiastic monarch and graduate of Philosophy

He expressed his profound love for sports particularly football and boxing saying Thunder Balogun was an amazing enigmatic footballer in his active days.

“I think the government should provide enabling environment for sports to thrive so as to optimize the abundant potentials in Nigeria. Thunder Balogun was discovered in Lagos and did wonder against Brazil”. Alaafin reminisced

At the event were: Professor Ade Onajobi (FFCN Adviser), General Secretary, Mr. Bankole Ojomu, the Welfare Officer Prophetess Sade Oloruniyi Ibidapo Obe (Also known as It’s Gbogbonise), Treasurer, Mr. Dele Onifade, the Chief Whip, Engr Segun Badmus, the Yoruba traditional Council called Oyomesi, Iyalode amongst others.
