A 2023 Governorship aspirant in Oyo State, Mr Akeem Agbaje has described the passage of Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi, Alaafin of Oyo as the exit of a strong historical link between the old and new generation of Yoruba sons and daughters to learn about their origin,saying it will be very difficult to fill the void he left behind by the Oyo mesi.
According to the Governorship hopeful under the banner of All Progressives Congress in Oyo State
“It is a sure fact that whoever steps in as the next ALAAFIN might not be as influential as the Late Oba Lamidi Atanda Adeyemi, saying Oyo people should jusy accept the reality that a monarch like the late Alaafin comes once in a life time “
Mr Agbaje also added that Until his death,Oba Adeyemi was a Monarch of no mean standing in deciding many critical issue in Oyo State,Southwest,Southern Nigeria and even beyond the shores of Africa.
The Legal icon and Business Administrator cum Politician stated “Intellectually, Oba Adeyemi, Oyo town may have to wait for a long time to get a near replica of the late Oba Adeyemi.
Mr Agbaje however called on the Oyo Mesi and the entire people of the ancient Town to take solace in the fact that Oba Adeyemi did not only lived well but set a standard for the Oyo Monarch throne, himself, the incoming ALAAFIN and other Obas in Yoruba land,even across Africa.
