Attach Your Resignation Letter To Contract Signed – NFF Tells Rohr, Others

As the Nigeria Football Federation is set to announce the new head coaches of the national teams, a chieftain of the glass house has revealed that the would-be national team handlers including Super Eagles boss Gernot Rohr, are asked to attach their resignation letters to the contract already signed or about to be signed.

The source who is one of the influential member of the NFF board made this known to Prompt News on the condition of anonymity said the leadership of the football house took the decision after due consultation, to avoid going into legal dispute or being taken to FIFA or CAS in future if there is any violation.

The source, however, revealed that the new clause may not be found in any of the contract papers but it is one of the verbal conditions given to all national team coaches before putting pen to paper.

“I can tell you authoritatively that the best way out of any contract issue is to have their resignation letters especially the head coach of National teams which include U17male and female, U20 male and female, U23, Super Falcons and Super Eagles.”

“The decision will also help both parties to avoid being dragged to FIFA or Court of Arbitration for Sports.

Also our source revealed that national team coaches will be contracted based on the competition they are to handle as there would be no room for Long term engagement.

Recall that the super Eagles boss was given two and half years contract extension when he accepted the three conditions given by the NFF Board – to live in Nigeria and help to develop our league, to be paid in country’s currency (Naira) and pay cut to reflect economic reality due COVID-19 Pandemic which has crippled commercial activities globally.
