Best Talents Football Club of Mowe extended its winning streak with an emphatic 1-0 victory over Gateway United FC at Asero Stadium, Abeokuta. The Nationwide League One (NLO) team delivered another masterclass, underscoring its reputation as a hub for youthful, talented players aged 14-19.
A solitary strike from Richard sealed the deal early in the match. Although Best Talents missed a penalty in the 14th minute, the miss seemed to ignite their performance. They dominated play, leaving the Nigeria National League (NNL) side, Gateway United, struggling to keep pace in front of their home fans.
This victory marked Best Talents’ 13th win in 14 matches under the tutelage of Coach Farouk Yusuf, including a commanding 4-1 triumph over Buquenson FC last week. Reflecting on the match, Coach Farouk expressed gratitude to his players, management, and the club chairman, Mr. Adeyinka Adeyemo:
“The players showed incredible discipline and resilience. Beating a traditional team like Gateway FC, coached by veteran Festus Allen, is a testament to their commitment and preparation.”
Coach Farouk emphasized the importance of staying grounded:
“While this victory is significant, we’re focused on building these young lads mentally, physically, and emotionally for the upcoming NLO1 season. We won’t let success distract us from our goals.”
With their stellar performances and a track record of winning recent scouting tournaments, Best Talents FC has positioned itself as a team to watch in the forthcoming season.
