The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) Disciplinary Board has imposed a series of sanctions on the Fédération Sénégalaise de Football (FSF), the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF), as well as several players and officials, following incidents that occurred during the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 Final. CAF ruled that the actions violated provisions of the CAF Disciplinary Code, particularly those relating to fair play, integrity, and loyalty.
Regarding Senegal, the CAF Disciplinary Board suspended Senegal head coach Pape Bouna Thiaw for five official CAF matches for unsporting conduct and for bringing the game into disrepute. He was also fined USD 100,000. Senegalese players Iliman Cheikh Baroy Ndiaye and Ismaila Sarr were each suspended for two official CAF matches for unsporting behaviour towards the referee. The FSF was fined USD 300,000 for the improper conduct of its supporters and an additional USD 300,000 for the unsporting conduct of its players and technical staff. A further USD 15,000 fine was imposed due to five Senegalese players receiving cautions during the match.
The CAF Disciplinary Board also handed down sanctions to Morocco. Achraf Hakimi was suspended for two official CAF matches, with one match suspended for one year, for unsporting behaviour. Ismaël Saibari received a three-match suspension and a USD 100,000 fine. The Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF) was fined USD 200,000 for the inappropriate behaviour of stadium ball boys, USD 100,000 for the improper conduct of players and technical staff who invaded the VAR review area and obstructed the referee, and USD 15,000 for the use of lasers by supporters during the final.
CAF also ruled on a protest lodged by the FRMF alleging violations by the FSF of Articles 82 and 84 of the Africa Cup of Nations Regulations. After review, the CAF Disciplinary Board rejected the protest, confirming that no regulatory breach warranting further action was established in relation to the AFCON 2025 Final.
