Former Romanian international Adrian Mutu shortlisted for Super Eagles coaching job.

    It is no longer news that the contract of Super Eagles chief coach Jose Peseiro will expire in June this year. Infact it is also no longer news that the NFF is already shopping for a replacement for the Portuguese. Perhaps, what is news is, who will lead Nigeria to the Africa Cup of Nations as head coach of the Super Eagles in 2024?

    Amongst all the names mentioned thus far, a certain Adrian Mutu of Romania, who at one time, played for Chelsea football club of England is now being touted for the plum job.

    Mutu’s representatives are already in Nigeria awaiting a verbal agreement with the Nigeria football federation.

    A top official of the football house who spoke on condition of anonymity told www.nsmmedia.com.ng that so far, 6 names have been shortlisted and that Mutu is considered a priority candidate.

    Born January 8, 1979, 44year old Adrian Mutu is the current coach of Romanian side FC Rapid 1923, a club he joined in 2022 after signing a three year contract.

    Mutu coached the Romanian under 21 team between 2020 and 2021 before taking over as coach of FC Craiova in May 2021. He was also Romanian National team chief scout and president of FC Dinamo at one time.
