GSM Tourney: Defending Junior Champions Mubarak confident of retaining title for Makinde

Defending Junior U-16 Boys Champion Mubarak Ganiyu is confident he will retain the title he won at the maiden edition of the GSM Tennis Championship in 2020.

He said this while fielding questions from BCOS Sports reporter Boluwaji Ogunmola at the ongoing second edition of the GSM Tennis Championship.

Recall that the Oyo State tennis prodigy had defeated a more experienced and older opponent, Michael Akinmusire 5-7, 7-1, 6-2 at the 2020 finals.

Beaming with confidence and self assurance, Mubarak said: “You should be expecting me in the finals, playing in the final and winning the final, I am confindent of winning the Championship again”.

Speaking on Governor Seyi Makinde’s plans for him, the wonder-kid said the goal of the Governor is to see him play in ATP tours, Grand Slams, and winning multiple tournaments

“The Governor has given me the opportunity to showcase my talent to the world and travel abroad to further my studies and develop my game even further abroad, I’m sure I will use the opportunity well.

“He wants to see me play in ATP tours globally, Grand Slams, winning multiple tournaments, so I’m hoping to travel oversee later in the year” he concluded.
