IFA EXTENDS OLUBADAN CUP REGISTRATION DEADLINE, HAILS FG/PTF.

IN response to pleas by some clubs’ management, Ibadan Football Association (IFA) has extended the closure of registration for Olubadan Cup 2020; just as it hails Federal Government on the conditional unbanning of football and other contact sports.

The Association disclosed that it has been inundated with pleasure and appeals from various club sides asking for more time to perfect their registration because of the bureaucracy in their offices.

Without being insensitive to the appeals, the soccer ruling body has announced Wednesday, October 21, 2020 as new deadline for the registration.

A press statement signed by the Association’s chairman, Barr. Rotimi Alli also applauded the Federal Government Presidential Task Force (PTF) on easing of restrictions on football and other contact sports across the country.

Alli stated that though the unbanning was conditional, it was a pointer that better days lie ahead for football in Nigeria.

While affirming that the Association would abide by all the rules and safely protocols laid down by the PTF, the IFA Chairman revealed that date for olubadan cup and Super -8 competitions would be announced immediately after closure of registration next week.

He added that match day safety measures /protocols including number of officials; seating arrangement in conformity with social distancing regulations, etc. would be announced as earlier stated.

The Federal Government Presidential Task Force on COVID -19 yesterday eased restrictions and approved the resumption of soccer activities and other contact sports across the country without fans and spectators which means the matches would be played in empty stadium.
