The timetable for the sixth National Youth Games scheduled for Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, has been slightly adjusted.
The adjustment, the Main Organizing Committee (MOC) of the Games says, is to allow more time for participating states who are yet to arrive Ilorin to do so.
A statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the MOC, Dr. Bode Alli Durotoye and the Chairman of state Directors’ Forum, Bashari Ahmed Maizare indicates that the deadline for arrival will now be the midnight of Wednesday, October 13, screening of participating athletes will take place at the Sports Unit, University of Ilorin Gymnasium on Thursday, October 14 by eight o’clock in the morning while the opening ceremony will be held on Friday, October 15.
Among the early arrivals in Ilorin are members of Team Akwa Ibom who arrived the ancient city on Monday and have cashed in on their timely
appearance by holding their routine training sessions at various locations to keep themselves fit ahead of the beginning of the competition days.
Team Akwa Ibom will be looking to go a step better than their best ever finish of second place when the Games get underway in Ilorin.
