A political ally of Nigeria’s Deputy Senate President, Job Tsegha, has congratulated the General Manager of Barau FC, Dominic Iorfa, for leading the club to a historic five-game unbeaten run in the ongoing 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
Barau FC, owned and founded by Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, enjoyed an impressive run of results that included victories over Niger Tornadoes and Ikorodu City FC, as well as draws against Enyimba FC, Bayelsa United, and Bendel Insurance. The strong sequence of results has lifted the club out of the relegation zone and restored confidence within the squad.
Tsegha praised Iorfa’s leadership and commitment, describing the achievement as the fulfilment of a promise made to the Deputy Senate President. According to him, the Barau FC General Manager had earlier set a target of going five matches unbeaten and boldly reiterated the promise during a visit to the club’s owner, despite facing a difficult run of fixtures.
“I was visibly worried and angry because Barau FC still had Bendel Insurance and Ikorodu City to contend with within the five-match target,” Tsegha said. “Today, I am glad to congratulate Mr Dominic Iorfa for going five matches unbeaten against Niger Tornadoes, Enyimba International, Bayelsa United, Bendel Insurance, and Ikorodu City. Congratulations, Chief Dominic Iorfa.”
Following their 1–0 victory over Ikorodu City on Matchday 24, Barau FC have now accumulated 30 points, marking a significant turnaround in their NPFL campaign and strengthening hopes of a stable finish in the league this season.
