Lobi Stars goalkeeper Mustapha Aliko was delighted with a clean sheet in the match day 1 of the Governor Wike Pre Season Tournament on Friday.
Aliko made crucial saves from Cletus Emotan, Godwin Aguda and Fortune Omoniwari as the Pride of Benue silenced Port Harcourt fans with a 1-0 win at Sharks Stadium.
The former Kastina United goalkeeper was just the saving grace Lobi Stars had during the encounter and he has this to say:
“I’m delighted,” he said, following the win. “Just to play for Lobi Stars is a dream, and to get a clean sheet was a massive bonus – especially for the team, because we needed it.
“I think in the end of the game the team was a bit tired but sometimes you have to win the games like we did today.”
“To win against a strong team like Rivers United is good for us with our confidence.
Up next for Lobi Stars is a tricky duel with Akwa United on Sunday.
