It is now becoming a landmark gradually that people should be revered in the world of sports as another main event has been scheduled on Friday, October 16, 2020.
Not much a breaking news that Nigeria marked her 60th independent anniversary on October 1st 2020 and promises has been made by the Federal government of Nigeria to commemorate this year’s anniversary in a special way by celebrating and awarding 60 Icons in Nigeria who have contributed tremendously to the development of sports since 1960.
Recall that it is on this day that Barcelona and Argentina’s talisman, LIONEL ANDRÉS MESSI was awarded his sixth European golden shoe award following his nulli secondus performance in the 2018/2019 season after bagging a total goals plus assist, 71, that season.
What’s more important is people being celebrated, appreciated, honoured and smiling on October 16 which coincides with the birthday of the writer of this piece.
Only one of the greatest of all time was honored last year, another sixty great persons would be smiling on this day again this year in Nigeria. How many more will be celebrated in the coming years? Not bad as a present on the 16th of October.
