Crown FC of Ogbomoso delivered a commanding home performance at the Soun Stadium, defeating Smart City FC of Lagos 2–0 in their Nigeria National League (NNL) Conference A Matchday Five encounter. The Ajilete Warriors responded in style after last weekend’s 3–1 defeat to Beyond Limits FA, showcasing resilience, discipline, and renewed confidence in front of their home supporters.
The breakthrough came in the 33rd minute when forward Osas Kelvin capitalized on a defensive error from Smart City. A mistimed clearance from the visiting goalkeeper fell directly into his path, and the former First Bank attacker calmly lifted the ball over the stranded shot-stopper to record his first goal in Crown FC colours. The Ogbomoso side carried their 1–0 advantage into the halftime break.
Just six minutes into the second half, the home crowd was on its feet again after a spectacular long-range free-kick from Adekunle Mojeed. Striking from midfield, Mojeed’s effort sailed past everyone and found the net, doubling Crown FC’s lead and putting them firmly in control of the match. Despite Smart City pushing for a comeback, Crown goalkeeper Muyiwa Majayogbe remained alert, making several key saves to secure a deserved clean sheet.
Midfield maestro Sadiq Rilwan was named Man of the Match for his exceptional display. The former Sunshine Stars midfielder dictated the tempo, controlled possession, and orchestrated play with impressive composure. He dedicated the award to his parents, teammates, and coaching crew. The victory boosts morale in Ogbomoso and strengthens Crown FC’s momentum as they continue their climb up the NNL Conference A standings.
