Technical Adviser of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), Gbenga Ogunbote, admitted that it would have been “suicidal” had his team conceded a second goal in their 1-1 draw against Plateau United on Sunday. Despite his disappointment over missing out on a seventh consecutive victory, Ogunbote took solace in securing a crucial point away from home.
“It is quite unfortunate that we couldn’t manage the goal. It was a result of a loss of concentration. It was an error on our part,” he lamented. The tactician, known as The Oracle, acknowledged that his team had a golden opportunity to claim all three points but failed to capitalize. “If we had taken the advantage today, maybe it would have been a different ball game, but be it as it may, one point on the road at this time is something.”
Reflecting on the match, Ogunbote praised Plateau United’s fighting spirit, stating, “They showed a killer instinct; you saw the way they came at us. We were careless, they scored, and they fought to get the second goal.” However, he remains optimistic about the title race, asserting that with 17 games left, “nobody has won it, nobody has lost it. Every team in the premiership has an equal chance of winning it.”
