Oyo State Chairman, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, *Comrade Olaolu Fawole* welcomed the football legend *King Kanu Nwakwo* to Ilaji Soccer and Stadium Resort, Ibadan,yesterday.
Speaking at the event organised by the owner of football academy, Engineer Sanusi to showcase and expose what the resort has got to do at the world stage, the chairman said “we welcome you King kanu to Ibadan, Oyo State the pace setter state and based on our mandate this is just the beginning of many goodies that will happen in Ibadan and I want to assure you that you will still come to Oyo state to grace some of our grassroot sports development program “
In his response, King Kanu Nwakwo popularly called (Pappilo) speaks well of Ibadan, and said that he was impressed with the performance of the boys and said he would find time to come to Ibadan and makes himself a friend to many of the talents.
1996 African footballer of the year said the city of Ibadan is his second home due to the achievement the city has made in football circle. Liberty Stadium, Lekan Salami and many of the stadia have hosted International matches. Japan 93 World Cup winner added that Ibadan is home of many firsts.
He thereafter presented a gift to the captain of Ilaji Soccer Academy for his brilliant display and encouraged him to improve on the previous.
The courtesy visit was accompanied with a novelty match where King Kanu played with the Ilaji football academy team B and also had some pep talk as to what he feels should be done.
