Eteng Victor Arikpo, a silver medalist at the 12th All African Games in Rabat and former Flying Eagles midfielder says his move to NPFL top guns Plateau United was the right choice.
Arikpo made his Plateau United debut in the lone goal loss to Niger Tornadoes in a Matchday One fixture of the new Nigeria Professional Football League(NPFL) fixture played last weekend at the Ilorin Stadium, Kwara State.
Speaking after the game, “Good feelings for me joining one of the top clubs in the NPFL, it’s a good platform for me to take my career to the next level as it is a new challenge for me.
“Delighted I finally made my first start for Plateau United in an official game. Though not the result I had expected, we should have left Ilorin with a point as we gave the game our best shot.
” I hope to get another start against Kwara United on Boxing Day and of course to show Jos fans my qualities.”
Arikpo, who was in blistering form in 2019 has six caps and scored four goals for Nigeria.
He helped Paul Aigbogun Flying Eagles to win a silver medal at the West Africa Football Union (WAFU) B U-20 tourney in Togo, where he played four games against Niger, Ghana, Mali and Senegal.
At the 12th African Games in Rabat, Morocco, Arikpo who played in two games against South Africa and Burkina Faso, also won a silver medal as the Flying Eagles succumbed to a 0-2 defeat in the hands of Burkina Faso in the final of the men’s football event.
Arikpo’s good form earned him a place in the 30-man provisional roster for the 2019 FIFA World Youth Championship (WYC) in Germany.
