Trinidad and Tobago has appointed former Manchester United star Dwight Yorke as their new national team head coach. The 52-year-old returns to a leadership role with the Soca Warriors, having previously captained the team during their historic 2006 World Cup campaign in Germany.
Yorke’s appointment marks a homecoming for one of Trinidad and Tobago’s most celebrated footballing figures. His previous experience with the national team includes a stint as assistant coach in 2009, demonstrating his ongoing commitment to developing football in his homeland.
The former Premier League striker brings a wealth of experience from his illustrious playing career, most notably his successful spell at Manchester United where he was a key figure in their 1999 treble-winning season. This high-level experience, combined with his deep understanding of Trinidad and Tobago football, positions him uniquely to lead the national team’s development.
