Heartland could face another axe from the League Management Company (LMC) after it’s players resolved not to kick a ball again after Sunday’s Matchday27 tie against Jigawa Golden Stars unless they meet with Governor Hope Uzodinma at the Imo Government House.

The players insisted that they will take the bull by its horns, to fight a common cause which range from none payment of salaries (which is now a backlog of six months), none payment of match bonuses, poor welfare among other issues affecting the team.

A source in the camp informed of this on Saturday night via a chat on WhatsApp. According to him, “Things may fall apart in Heartland as from this week as the players have vowed never to attend training on empty stomach let alone kick a ball viz-a-viz play any NPFL game unless they meet Governor Hope Uzodinma.

“The players have tag the Heartland management as saboteurs, inhumane and nonchalant towards ensuring they are been paid their salaries and allowances.

“They have asked the egg-heads of club if it was a taboo to see the club’s number one fan (Governor Hope Uzodinma) and express their complaints like other groups or persons who see the Governor.

“The players who have spoken with one voice want action and are ready to dam the consequence if they do not meet the Governor.”

Speaking further, “I hope things are finally done right if finally the team meets with the Governor. How the team keeps getting results this season keeps one amazed. The coaches and players deserve a big applause as the environmental in the club is bad, players are not been paid salaries and allowances as at when due yet they do the needful winning game.”

They Naze Millionaires who are placed 11th on the NPFL log with 53points lost 3-1 to Akwa United on Thursday, would hope to get to winning ways against 14th placed Jigawa.
