Drama in the camp of Heartland after some senior players of the club refused to travel to Makurdi for today’s MatchDay 30 fixture against Lobi Stars.
It was gathered that 90 percent of the Naze Millionaires that featured in Sunday’s 2-0 victory over visiting MFM FC of Lagos did not join the team bus, as they told the club management point blank that unless they pay them their backlog of salaries or meet with Governor Hope Uzodinma, that they made the trip.
According to our source, “It was a new twist as senior players refused to travel to Makurdi as they fell deaf ears to the appeals of management regarding their unpaid nine (9) months salaries.
“As the drama continued for hours, for fear of incurring the wrath of the League Management Company (LMC) for failure to honour a game, the management had to plea with the coaching staff to make an emergency plan by travelling with some available junior players.
“For fear of been kidnapped or fall prey to robbers, the team had to pass the night in Enugu to continue the journey on Wednesday.
“As at 8:00am today (Wednesday), the team was still about three to five hours away from Makurdi, meaning they should arrived few hours to kick off. It’s so pathetic for a team playing in the top flight of the domestic league in Nigeria.”
The Naze Millionaires are currently 10th on the NPFL log with 41 points.
