The matchday 5 game of the Nigeria Professional Football League between Lobi Stars and Dakkada might have come and gone with Lobi stars needing a last gasp penalty to secure the points against their visitors.

As entertaining as the game was, there were still some talking points and grey areas needs to polish if they truly want to make huge statement this season.

Here are the talking points from the game.

4. Lobi stars, a team on the rise

Lobi stars are unbeaten in their last 4 league games as they have won 3 and drawn 1.

They sit third on the log with 10 points and will next visit Enugu Rangers at the Nnamdi Azikwe stadium in a game many believe will test their title ambition.

3. Dakkada play beautiful brand of football

Dakkada came with a game plan which was well executed on Sunday.

The plan was, sit deep and hit the opposition on the counter. They unsettled the hosts for much of the duration with the skipper of the side, Aniekan Ekpe the chief orchestra.

2. Profligacy issue must be addressed by Dogo

Lobi kept creating chances upon but the ability to kill those opportunities must be giving gaffer Kabiru Dogo sleepless nights.

On MD 2 against MFM, Lobi stars created and missed banging chances before Ossy Martins broke the deadlock in the 71st minute.

Same thing on MD 5 as the attackers kept failing to convert clearcut chances.

Ossy Martins, Segun Alebiosu, Chinonso Okonkwo and Austin Ogunye have all been tested, hope to see kid sensation Solomon Ogaga get a look-in too.

  1. It was Thomas Zenke vs Nnamdi Mejuobi

Yes, these two players entertained us in Makurdi.

For me, Thomas Zenke should have won the Man of the match as he kept the Dakkada defense line busy all through the duration of the game with his blistering pace and dribbling skills as he was involved in the moves that led to both goals.

Meanwhile Nnamdi Mejuobi was a thorn in the flesh of Lobi stars backline as his pace and strength kept them busy all afternoon.

Although, he didn’t score but did enough to catch the eye of Lobi stars Vice Chairman Mr Mike Idoko.

The NPFL remains the best league in the world (My opinion) as I strongly believe that Lobi Stars has the squad to return to the continent.
