In furtherance of Covid-19 safety guidelines and protocols at football matches in Nigeria, the management of Gateway United has again urged fans and supporters to continue to stay away from its match venues.

In an official statement from the Ogun State owned club, the acting General Manager, Niyi Soleye said owing to crowd troubles at some match venues lately there is need to reemphasize that, going forward, Gateway United’s matches will still be played behind strict closed doors as directed and reiterated by the Nigeria National League (NNL) so as to completely contain the ravaging covid-19 pandemic.

“We appreciate our teeming fans and supporters of the Gateway State club for abiding with the guideline since day one but we cannot be too careful by reiterating the need to continue to do so until NNL officially allows fans admittance.

“As it were, we will continue to run the text commentary of our matches on Facebook as well as upload the highlights of our games on our YouTube channel (Gateway United FC).

“We charge you to continue to observe all the Covid-19 guidelines in and outside your respective home. Covid-19 is not yet a thing of the past, but our disciplined actions will go a long way in rather taming it in no time or prolonging the containment of this virus” he concluded.

Gateway United face Ijebu United tomorrow in Ikenne in the semi final of 2021 Ogun State F.A Cup tomorrow 13th June, 2021.
