I Am Optimistic We Will Win Olympic Medals – Okowa

    The President of Athletics Federation of Nigeria Mr Tononock Okowa is very optimistic that the athletes going for the Olympic will definitely come back with medals.

    The former Delta State AFN Chairman stated this immediately after LOC meeting in Abuja.

    “With the level preparation we have put in place for the athletes we are optimistic that we are not only going there to participate but also to win medals for the country”.

    “We are happy because out of five relays we were able to two though we plan getting the five. We missed both 4x100m and 4x400m male and we qualified for both female 4x100m, 4x400m and mixed relay 4x400m races.”

    While explaining the plans of the federation for the athletes:

    Okoya said, the local athletes will be in closed camp in Abuja and the those out the country will still be with their coaches and trainers just for them to always keep fit.

    Speaking on the Lagos meet:

    He said the lagos meet was a very organised one with lots of coordinated activities and standard organisations.

    The athletes were happy and fans who came to watch were elated with the level of competitions they saw among the veterans and the new young athletes. He concluded
