Gateway United have been crowned champions of the 2021 Ogun State FA Cup following a 4-0 win over Easywell FC at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta.
After a 5-3 penalty shoot-out win over Ijebu United, Hakeem Busari led side started on the front foot when Okolo Michael slotted home from the penalty spot after Julius Ikechukwu was hacked down in the box.
In the 16th minute, the homers earned the first corner of the game but the visitors did well to clear out of danger.
The intensity continued when Abawula Anthony with a long throw-in found Oronsaye who volleyed a loose ball that went few inches off target.
5mins before the half hour mark, Haruna Salifu Waded off a challenge from Easywell defenders in the box to aim at goal, but his chip flew agonizingly wide.
Gateway Utd would, however, double their lead in the 37th minute when Michael Okolo pierced home a stunner of a freekick from 25yards out.
Sunkanmi Odusina beat his marker from the left flank, crossed the ball for Haruna Salifu to nod wide yet again as the team upped the ante.
The first half would end with Gateway Utd in a comfortable lead.
Just as they finished the first half, it took the team two minutes into the second to score a third as Iwundu Chidozie rose highest to nod in a corner.
13 minutes later, Haruna Salifu got on the score sheet when he nodded home brilliantly off Okoro Obinna’s cross.
With the scoreline looking comfortable and the trophy sealed, the players enjoyed more of the possession as they kept Easywell FC at bay.
There was still time for a late chance when substitute Muhammed Muhammed tried a long effort from the midfield as Saludeem Lukmon scampered to gather the ball.
That chance would be all for proceedings as Gateway United lifted the 2021 Ogun FA Cup final.
