Onome Ebi Slams Reports of Forced Inclusion in Super Falcons’ Olympic Squad

Veteran defender Onome Ebi has expressed her displeasure at reports suggesting her inclusion in the Super Falcons squad for the upcoming Summer Olympics is being imposed on coach Randy Waldrum.

The Super Falcons secured their spot in the 2024 Olympics after a 16-year absence by defeating South Africa’s Banyana Banyana. They are set to compete in a challenging group alongside Spain, Brazil, and Japan.

However, recent media reports in Nigeria have claimed that the 41-year-old’s inclusion in the Super Falcons squad for Paris 2024 is being orchestrated behind the scenes, sparking controversy within the football community.

Ebi took to Facebook to criticize sports digital creator Ifeoluwa Leo-Olagbaye for his comments on her inclusion, writing, “Na God go punish you for this your news and misleading people.”

In response to ongoing criticism, Ebi, who previously played for Bayelsa Queens, lashed out at those using her name for media attention, calling them “useless fools.”
