The Vice President of the AIPS Mr. Mitchell Obi has confirmed to the President of NFF Mr Anaju Melvin Pinnick that Hon. Honour Sirawo is the SWAN President.
The Veteran Journalist confirmed this on Wednesday on a radio program in Lagos while praising and thanking the NFF on behalf of the African journalists and most especially Nigerian journalists.
“Let me on behalf of all the sports journalists in Africa and most especially Nigerian journalists thank you for what you have done in acknowledging Sports journalists as critical stakeholders in the development of sports in Nigeria.
While answering the questions raised by the NFF President on the fractions in SWAN, the African President of AIPS said:
“There’s only one SWAN recognized by it’s international body AIPS and that is one led by Honor Sirawo”
The veteran sports journalist also continued:
“Congratulatory messages will come but don’t distracted , there is only one body and is one led by Honor Sirawo.”
Honour Sirawo which is currently the Special Advicer to the Rivers State Governor on Youth and Sports Development has been the President of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria with remakable successes since he took over the over. His great work cannot be overemphasize from incorporating the association, to getting a secretariat in Abuja, and making Nigeria a critical stakeholder at the world level of journalism amongst other accomplishments.
