Samuel Chukwueze said he was disappointed with a draw with Huesca, but his club Villarreal will continue to fight on to ensure they stay up in La Liga.
Relegation strugglers Villarreal and Huesca played out a 1-1 draw at the weekend.
It was a disappointing result for ‘Samu’ as Huesca netted a late equalizer to deny Villarreal an important win.
“It was a shock for me because I thought we had the victory in our hands, not till they drew level,” Chukwueze said.
It is really disappointing, to us because we wanted the three points.
“Our opponents were tough, it was more like a war zone for us. The pressure was high, the match was played on a high tempo because both sides knew what was at stake.
“It didn’t matter whether we were playing at home or away all both sides were looking for was the three points.”
Villarreal are now 14th on the table with 40 points and three rounds of matches to the end of the season in Spain.
Chukwueze said his team cannot afford a slip in their final games so that they could again feature in La Liga next season.
“For the remaining matches, it is a fight to finish, any slight error will throw you down to the second-tier league, which will be so disappointing,” he said.
“I will continue to do best to make sure my club remain in the top flight in Spain. It’s my top priority right now.”
